Sol LeWitt, Master of Conceptualism, Dies at 78 [New York Times link]
I am so inspired by LeWitt's work. I studied him in college in 1992. I guess, while in college studying art, I was at an age where cerebral things appealed to me. Not intellectual (me?)--in fact most of Conceptualist art was intended to have no meaning or aesthetic other than to challenge (then) modern ideas of art. It was anti-art. In case you're not familiar with Sol's tenets of Conceptualism, here's a quick 3-step study: write some directions on how to draw something, give those directions to someone else to execute, stand-back and admire your work (their work). Ha! Did I know then that I would become an architect. Nope.
